Teeth fixed.

I told you all yesterday about Spindles accident in the playground.
Poor lad, he was as hungry as a horse last night but could only manage soup........and with the lacerations in his mouth that was only possible with a straw.

He couldn't go to school today. He had a dental appointment this afternoon and it wasn't felt wise to send him to school this morning in case there were further developments......like more bits breaking off.

So he stayed with me.
His Mum had sent a tin of rice pudding over for him to have for lunch........he likes Ambrosia rice pudding and if he is not well it is either that or tomato soup he wants as comfort food.

Himself went out to do some shopping for Ma, and get a few bits for us.
I kept Spindles occupied with puzzles and word searches.
At 10 am he asked if he could have his dinner. I told him it was a good two hours until dinner time.
'But I'm hungry' he wailed.
'Listen to my tummy grumbling' he said.
He got the tin opener out of the kitchen drawer and tried to open the tin......with not much success. He couldn't quite work out how to fit the opener onto the can.

I relented and poured half of the tin into a pan and warmed it up.......I put some raspberry jam in the middle and gave it to him.
'Oh, I wanted it cold'
'Ok, if you wait for ten minutes I am sure it will be cold' I said.
'No, I can't wait - I'm starving'.

He hoed into the rice pudding, I swear it was all gone and dish was scraped clean in a couple of minutes.

'What can I eat now? Can I have a ginger biscuit?' he asked.

'definitely not. The Dentist doesn't want you to bite on anything hard until you have been seen later today' I said.

I managed to put him off eating anything else, but come lunchtime he had a cornish pasty cut up into small pieces. He delicately placed the pieces into his mouth avoiding his front teeth.

He then finished off the rice pudding with some strawberry jam......and had a little jam tart....broken up, so that no biting was required.

I took him home after lunch and he went to the Dentist this afternoon.
he promised he would be brave, and that he would sit still (this is something of a feat for him - he has ants in his pants).
His appointment was for half past two.......I was thinking about him and hoping that everything would go well.......that he would not need to have these two front teeth taken out(because of damage to the root or the nerve...or worse a vertical crack in his teeth).

He came over to our house just before 4pm to show me his newly renovated teeth.
Lovely. No serrated edge, no jagged break.....all level smooth and white.

There may need to be more work done at some stage in the future, and the repairs may not hold....but for now it looks good.
He was brave and he sat still for the whole of the treatment.

As a treat he got to play on his Nintendo...something which doesn't happen during the week.

He is back at school tomorrow with the warning that he has to be very careful in the playground.
