Or should that read 'The Kids'?
No of course not. I call children 'children'...remembering that my mother told me that only goats have kids.

We'll settle it by calling them by their names.
Rufus and Ruby.
They are like two unruly toddlers....into things that they shouldn't be.
I retrieved one of himselfs Ibuprofen tablets from Ruby last night.
Himself was feeling a bit creaky(the joys of age) and had put two tablets on his side table.
He had a cup of tea, but felt they might melt in his mouth with hot tea.
He left them for just a moment to get a glass of water.
When he came back one was on the floor, the other one was being pushed around the floor by Ruby.
When she saw me she put the pill in her mouth and ran upstairs. Sensibly dropping the tablet at the top of the stairs.(this medication is poisonous to cats)
I pounced on it and she gave me that insolent look that cats have practised for thousands of years.
'How very dare I take something off her that she found interesting'
She walked into our bedroom casting a withering look over her shoulder and giving her tail a flick. That was her body language for 'sod off' or words to that effect.

Ruby is the kitten that himself is besotted by...she knows it and sits in the crook of his arm, making cow eyes(or should that be cats eyes) at him. A look of total devotion and love.
Then, the next news is she is clawing him and biting him.
I have told him that this is how she would treat anyone that she loves.

Rufus gravitates to me. He wants to be sitting on the same chair as me...as close as possible.
This even goes for the lavvy. If I go to the lav you can bet your last rolo that he will try to squeeze behind me onto the seat.

Both of the kitties love water.
I have never known cats that do not mind getting wet...and will actively paddle in their water bowl....then spread the water on the kitchen tiles and make like they are burying something.
They have fresh water in a bowl in the kitchen, but do they drink from it?
Only if they have to.
They prefer to drink wayer directly from the running tap.
I was running a bath yesterday morning and Rufus was on the tap end of the bath, contorted into an impossible shape, just so that he could drink the running water from the tap.
He did not seem to mind that it was warm.

I am forever having to lift them out of the kitchen sink.

They really are characters, they have made us laugh so much with their antics.
Wherever I go they follow....they like my craft room...it is full of interesting things they can run off with...paper they can tear to shreds, inks they can dab their paws in(good job they are water based and wash off easily)...metal dies that are light enough to carry in their mouths.

At 9pm each evening they sit at the living room door waiting to be allowed to go to bed.
Both of them make themselves comfy on the bottom of our bed.
Sometimes they doze, but mainly they have rumbustious fights, rolling all over the duvet.
They settle down eventually and will stay on the foot of the bed until 11.45 every night...then they go downstairs and spend the rest of the night down there. Ruby curled up on the sofa on one of himselfs jumpers....Rufus on my chair, snuggled up to my cushion.

That is so good to hear, the joy those little bundles of fur bring you both - and they are lucky kittens to have such a loving home.

wait till they learn how to turn the taps on for themselves Margaret ... you will be coming downstairs to the tap running ... and they will look at you as if to say me would I do something like that .. my sister had a cat that would only drink out of a running tap .. and he figured out how to turn it on .... its alright she said he cant do no damage she said .... and came home one day to a flood in the kitchen he'd knocked the plug into the sink ... and tap running ..

Oh no....that would be terrible.
If these two had thumbs they would be dangerous.
I had the kitchen window open just a crack...Rufus spotted it and pushed it open with his nose and he was off out of the window fortunately the back gate was shut and he didn't have time to work out how to get over the wall.

I saw a video the other day of a catflap a guy had spent a few hours putting in his backdoor, then it showed his cat, look at it from his back garden, then ignore it and pull the doorhandle down with its paw, push the door and walk in, was very funny, but nobody can tell me "Dumb Animals" !!

They are certainly not stupid Cashy....my two found a very large bag(1Kg) of dry kitten food that i was storing...they chewed a hole in a corner and spent a good while picking out the 'Dreamees' type biscuits and eating them....and when they saw i had seen their antics, they slunk off under the bed upstairs.
In fact i only have to pull out a dreamees packet and they both come running like on the advert.
I have tried to fox them with another packet of stuff same size and same colour as a dreamees packet...but they are not interested in that.
I think they can read.
