On Saturday morning my 2 little visitors arrived. I had worked on Friday night and had arranged for my dad to bring Daisy and Molly at 8.30am so that I could settle them in and go to bed.
What a performance!!! These 2 dogs are tiny but my dad still managed to fill the boot of his car and most of the back seat with their stuff. He brought their basket, cushion and blanket, a bag of spare blankets, 2 big bags of dried food and their dishes, a bag of chews and treats (he must feel guilty about leaving them), their vet details (just in case), their shampoo and wash things, leads and the obligatory cuddly toys.
I then received a lecture about how to look after dogs, how to feed them, clean their eyes, where to place their basket etc. After listening for 5 minutes and trying to be patient which, I have to admit, is not one of my virtues after a night shift, I had to remind him that I had looked after a dog for 10 years.... My sister Alice who had accompanied him with all of their stuff was rolling her eyes and trying not to laugh. My dad obviously didn't want to leave them and looked quite upset at the thought of leaving his girls. He kept trying to think if he had forgotten anything. In the end I just said 'if they need anything, I'll bloody well buy it, now go on holiday and let me go to bed'.
He went eventually and I settled them down into their temporary accommodation and hit the sack. They have now settled in quite nicely and are not above making themselves at home on my new settee which I have now covered with their blankets. They are little cuties who want attention all of the time. Whenever I sit down they jump onto my knee.......honestly, they were even trying to get on the knee when I was sat on the toilet. I have had to leave them at night to go to work but my mum is helping and taking them out during the day. I think she is enjoying it, she used to spend a lot of time at my house when I had the dog but hasn't been round much lately. I got home from work yesterday morning to find her camped in my kitchen with the dogs and a brew.
So far, I am enjoying having my visitors. I just have to be careful not to stand on them or trip over them. They are so small...... cute though.
