Asbestosis

Sorry folks if I seem to be repeating all this but I’m a newbie and I could find my first entry. A family member recently died of asbestosis leaving a widow, he work for at the Eubank works Hyndburn road as a maintenance worker primarily as a painter, thus coming in contact with the dreaded asbestos. The Solicitors say in order to have any compensation they would have to deal directly with the insurers of the company and are coming up with nothing. I know it’s a long shot but can anyone shed any light on this unlit road. Thank you
Kgreggy

Re: eubank accrington

A friend of mine who died of asbestosis worked at Lang Bridges.
The firm had been closed over thirty years, when I saw an article
in a newspaper, from a Manchester firm of solicitors, asking for ex employees to contact them. I rang them and I was able to provide a sketch of the works layout, and where the asbestos contamination came from. A specialist firm of solicitors handled the claim and his family got compensation. The fact that the firm is long gone makes no difference.

I think the firm is in Quay St, Manchester, and they specialise in
industrial compensation.

Retlaw.

My Mum went there when Burco shut down but as she didn't want to travel to Burnley she went to Joseph Arnolds and stayed there till she retired

No you're not going senile, it was Entwistle and Kenyon, I think it was called Ewbank colloquially because the Ewbank carpet sweeper was made there.

It was always known as Ewbank to me and I seem to recall the sign on the building saying Ewbank too. Then again I was only young!! I can also still remember the narrow footpath on Hyndburn Road!! :D

Still cast me mind's eye back to before it was Asda
