next weekend as a treat we're going to London

If anybody has any hints or advice on what to do, where to go what to avoid etc please let me know

for instance a friend mentioned buying cheap theatre seats for shows from the kiosks in Leicester Square

how do I get hold of an Oyster Card?

Avoid anywhere within the M25 and you'll be OK

If you must go in then learn a foreign language so you fit in

were goin down mid november fer couple of days, don't use yer car to get around, costs a bomb to park n its a nightmare, i always use the tube to move about down yon.

The Science museum and the History museum are brilliant places to visit, you HAVE to go to Harrods of course and Hamleys (the toy shop) even if you dont have any kids with you, arent Oyster cards more a yearly thing? when we go we just get a day pass on the underground, some day passes include buses too

British Museum is also a fabulous place to visit, take ya hours to get around that place.

Whats so special about going to arrods, face ache went in that dump when we were there I would'nt go in.
To me its just 4 glorified C0-Ops and a few Wollies and M&S piled together.

Every body strutting about with their arrods carrier bags
like there was nothing else in life.
I went to the Public Record office instead.

public transport is half price when using an Oyster card (https://oyster.tfl.gov.uk/oyster/gue...method=display).. and buses in the centre of London won't accept cash..if you plan on getting around you need a card or at least a weekend pass which you can buy at train/coach stations and some newsagents
the cheap theatre tickets at Leicester Square are usually sold out before 1pm....like has been said all the museums are free as is the Tate Modern Gallery.. or there's always the usuall "northerners" weekend in London..a pub crawl around Soho

mind you Soho does have a fruit n veg market thats as cheap as anywhere in the country.

i have a good reccomendation but i doubt you would like it............ Dont Go!!! Horrible place

I suggest you invest in going on The Big Bus Company tour. you can book on line or pick up one of the buses outside Victoria train station. This double decker goes all round the tourist spots , has a courier on board and tells you about the history of where you driving through. You can get on and off the buses where you like during the tour and pick up another bus after you seen the places you want to see. some tours include a trip down the river and you pick up another bus at the end of all that. is a good investment and you see so much more than traveling on the tubes train. the ticket lasts you all day and i think you can buy an extended one for 2 days. look it up on the web before you go. personally as a Londoner myself i feel you get the best for your money that way and see everything. happy sightseeing,,,, oh and btw if travelling on the open top double decker and it starts to rain , they will provide you with a plastic mac free !!

thats a really good idea Blue Rose, i was once in London with my ex about 7 years ago and it was £25 a ticket for that tour...and thats 7 years ago, god knows how much its gone up to now
