Re: oldham familly

There's no Oldhams in Rose Street or Rose Place in the 1951 directory. There are others elsewhere. I am sort of related to a Oswaldtwistle (Ossie) lot of Oldhams. Have a look at the Lancashire Family History Society's website. Check some Oldhams out on the British Telecom website.

To start with ... this is from the 1911 census ... interesting seeing the name of the son.
There are people on here who have better access to records ....sure they will help, but you may have already gone down this road of past ancestors ?

Re: oldham familly

Thanks

I didn't have a "Robinson" connection so this helps fill a gap and poses Q'S. Why was my grandfather living with his sisters inlaws??
May never know!!

Lots of folks would have had lodgers, makes sense if he was a single man on his own.

Katex's census return shows he was living with his brother in law, his sister having married a Robinson.
Loads of single men, who enlisted in WW1, have their sister as next of kin, and her address. If he got killed, and you find his service papers, all his living relatives will be listed, with addresses & ages.

The answer is yes and no. I knew Dick ( and greatlyt admiorted him,) when I worked at Huncoat Pit 1957. He is related to my uncle Bert ,now in his mid-late 80s and still wick but I don't know how. I vaguely remember that Dick had a brother at Hincoat. Bert & my aunt Claire had a daughter Valerie, wjhio I am in touch with. They lived in Bright St nerar Moor end school. She went to Rhyddings.
