if the BBC is as good as it claims it is, then it should be happy to move to a subscription service for its content and people in theory would be happy to pay.
the current status quo that makes it illegal to watch ANY live tv without paying the TV tax (license) is protectionism and a monopoly, one the BBC cannot justify. people should be free to watch other live TV be it freeview or paid subscription. likewise people should be free to subscribe to the BBC. restricting peoples freedom to watch channels other than the BBC without buying a license is called a monopoly and in most other industry's is broken up and discouraged. Time for the BBC to step into the 21st century |
