Re: Paul Newman
Great actor who will be very much missed, there are very few Hollywood stars who have a marriage that last 50 years. RIP Paul

Re: Paul Newman
By his own admission, Mr Newman was a man of limited acting ability, although he rarely appeared in a poor film. However, I cannot understand the logic behind the previous seventeen postings of crocodile tears. Other than Garinda - who knows every celebrity in the world - I doubt if anyone here actually met the man. While I do not speak ill of the dead, his passing will matter far less than that of a large number of people who will have died around Hyndburn over this last week or so. Do they all get a mention? I think not.
Anyway, his salad dressing was crap.

Re: Paul Newman
Sorry, can't see what folks saw in him. There are far better actors out there who never seem to get any recognition and have worked longer and harder than Mr. Newman ever did. Then again I never liked Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford or Steve McQueen either. Maybe I'm an oddball. I always felt people like Dean Stockwell, Jack Klugman & Tony Curtis were far better (always did like the comedians)

Re: Paul Newman
I too enjoyed Paul Newman's films, 'Hud' 'Butch' and the original 'Hustler' being amongst my favourites. Perhaps a lesser known fact, is about the man's personal life. All the profits from the sales of his various salad dressings etc. were given 'quietly' to charity. He started around a dozen country camps in America called "Hole in the Wall" for children with serious health problems. By the time he died, the profits given to charity amounted to over $250M. The legacy continues. So, I would say his passing is a milestone worth marking, the man being due some respect. RIP Mr. Newman.

It was the 1961 original which was called the Hustler, with Newman, Jackie Gleason & George C Scott.
