Re: Ray Putterill & Stanley in trouble?

There's a simple solution to problems like this.

If the football authorities are responsible for handing out bans, registering players and international clearances, then why can't they notify clubs of any difficulties at the time of registration. It shouldn't be too difficult to put some kind of system together.

Centralising the process would avoid problems like this and prevent situations like Alty found themselves in a couple of seasons back.

Of course, if the football authorities feel that they couldn't cope with it, then how do they expect the clubs to carry out the task with much less specialised resources?

No that's a Liverpool FA ban, not an FA ban!

Also everything is already centralised. From the Blue Square's upwards everything is dealt with by the FA. You can't seriously expect the FA to look after the Accrington Combinations disciplinary cases!

If thats the case the FA wouldn't have brought the charge all county FA's are affilliated to the FA. I think the only thing that clouds the issue is the club probably wouldn't have been notified about the ban at that level,in your comparison the Lancashire FA wouldn't inform clubs like Stanley of local park football bans.

It would have been up to the player to inform the club and thats only if the secretary at Halewood actually told him about it. I don't think county FA's tell the player directly.

Re: Ray Putterill & Stanley in trouble?

Whichever way it's dressed up, Stanley played an inelligable player in a cup competition. At the very least we will be expunged from the competition.

Stanley and Putterill are also likely to be hit with a further ban or fines. Ultimately it is the clubs responsibility to ensure that their players are elligble to play. Can't blame the FA for this.

Pretty unproffesional is the way i'd describe it.

It's not the referees job to check if a player is banned, even if he knows a player is banned I'm pretty sure he can't stop him playing.

I'm not even sure the FA know what they are doing, they currently have Aswad Thomas down as a Stanley player on their suspension list

Re: Ray Putterill & Stanley in trouble?

I think you really have to ask who does actually deal with these things when signing a player, as a rule of thumb possible banana skins should be the first concern. If it means Stanly being turfed out of the comp its you fans I feel sorry for

There certainly is one on the Lancashire fa website. It shows every player under a suspension in the country supposedly. The same list is available on the Liverpool FA website too. Neither of these lists show Ray as suspended on the league 2 page

Suspension List

The usual way in which suspensions are dealt with at lower league/sunday level is the local FA hands down the ban in days rather than games and if the offence occurred at the end of the previous season then it will be started at the beginning of the following season. The local FA contact the player directly to inform them of their ban and its length, they do not deal with the club of the player at all, although they emphasise that it is the clubs responsibility to check the players availability with the local FA prior to them playing again. Therefore it is also upto the player to inform any clun they play for of their imminant suspension.

Here is the confimation of his suspension from the Liverpool FA

Looking at that sparkie you can't really blame Stanley for not knowing, but you would actually think that there should be some way that clubs could keep better track(especially in the lower divisions) to avoid these mishaps

Re: Ray Putterill & Stanley in trouble?

Thats what I'm saying Jaysay, unless Ray told them about it the club would have no idea about his suspension. However it is a very simple process to search the discipline database and should be done as a matter of course IMHO

Ray hasn't played for us in any Football League game since the ban commenced, so no.

I do hope that this ridiculous situation gets sorted out soon and doesn't keep a talent such as Ray banned from playing Football League games for an incident in the pub leagues that happened before he even joined us.

Rob Heys said on Radio Lancs this evening that as far as the club were aware Ray's last registered appearance was made in a Liverpool jersey. They had no idea that he'd played for Halewood. If this account is true, as I believe it to be, it would be unfair to punish the club, surely?
