Wimbledon Match Thread

A super but hard won three points tonight with a 2-0 victory! Two superb goals made the difference. A screamer from Jack Nolan from near the corner of the penalty box and
a Blockbuster from Ben Woods from a central position about 25 yards out!
Wimbledon were very difficult opponents as their niggly style made for a game with very little continuity. This was not helped by some stray passing from Stanley. Wimbledon also relied very heavily on their long throw specialist which was very predictable but also difficult cope with.
Stanley showed great perseverance and it was just brilliant to see two, yes two Wonder Goals hit the back of our opponents net!
Another clean sheet for the popular Radek Vitek is helping the team edge closer to that fifty point target.
ON STANLEY ON
COME ON YOU REDS

Re: Wimbledon Match Thread

Two cracking goals tonight in a hard fought battle against another physical side. Felt we were lucky to keep things level in the first half but goals certainly change matches. After the first went in Wimbledon’s defence got jittery, and Stanley put them under more pressure and, for once, got their just reward with a second.
Couldn’t see much detail from the Clayton End but Videk made some crucial stops to get his MotM award, but thought O’Brien was again outstanding.

Re: Wimbledon Match Thread

Radek saved us again when (again) we defended poorly at a free-kick. Otherwise the defense was up to it.
I thought Jack Nolan was our best outfield player even without the goal, but I was also impressed by Bickerstaff’s hard work. He got absolutely nothing to work with, but ran his socks off.

Re: Wimbledon Match Thread

Was the same at MK on Saturday. That's why I thought it was such a mistake to change the team at half time, a view that the manager now appears to share.

Got to say that having Seamus on the pitch was - as always - massive (Dan Martin has some boots to fill )

Also, I am not on my own in the belief that the lads are young and at times naive - Crewe/Gills spring to mind - so it was good to hear Kelvin talking about how he kicked Vitek in the head towards the end of the match, just to slow things down and calm things down

Things like that take time to learn, let us just hope the current team learn quickly
