I dont think you would have any problem with the apps. Just think of them as like-websites. Or in some cases alternate versions of your favourite sites. Android can be a bit daunting at first. Android is more for the nerd variety,
why not get yourself an iphone
you can press a button and say "call hubby" and it will ring hubby. I know older phones did this too but they were nowhere near as good and this way you can just tell it to do stuff. hehe
