4) Some very large leaves......they were almost as tall as(or short) as me.....haven't a clue what they are.

I think pic 1 is a hoverfly. And I hate the smell of privet flowers too - so sickly!
Love that dog - with its tail hanging straight down! very sad - or maybe that's just its face...
