A little example being the local council where i live in Castelverde near Cremona which counts just over 5,000 souls. Until a couple of years ago it was booming here -a beautiful park was opened, the Town Hall square completely rennovated, excellent services, cycle paths made and maintained, a civic arts center opened etc etc. -last years end of year accounts showed they were practically bankrupt because of the national economical situation. They put speed cameras on the main road through here from Milan to make ends meet! Then sold of a plot of land for a supermarket on the edge of the village which will probably kill off the local shops and market when it opens...it has become a mad world.
