Re: wizard of oz
TV of the 70's here....
Easter...good old chuck in 'the greatest story ever told', or Vic in 'Samson and Delilah'..but only on sunday and monday afternoons because the Beeb had standards and schedules they kept to, regardless of advertsing, political and corporate pressures.
Steve jumping over barbed wire in 'The Great Escape' or Ben (whatchamacallit) jumping the ravine in 'She wore a Yellow Ribbon'., on summer bank holidays, usually followed by a Parkinson at 10pm interviewing 'real stars' like Cagney, Ustinov or Stewart (instead of the instantly forgettable will.i.am/towie/big brother perstonalities of today)
Alastair Sim's definitive 'Scrooge' and morning episodes of Flash Gordon, 3 stooges, Laurel and Hardy, disneys Zorro, crappy subtitled 'flashing blade/white horses', and best of all..Tom and Jerry, and road runner cartoons.......Meep! Meep!
