Sorry can't oblige with closeups at the moment but will bear that in mind.
The other day when you posted that pic of Bob by the waterfall I said it reminded me of a trip we made in Norway. Have just dug out a few photos from there.
We went on the Flam railway, very touristy, 20km-long train ride on one of the world's steepest railway lines on normal gauge. The gradient is 55/1000 on almost 80% of the line, i.e. a gradient of one in eighteen. It links the village of Flam at the top of a fjord with the main line to Bergen up in the mountains. We just went for the ride, there and back again.
- We're heading for the village at the end of this fjord
- The railway station in the village
- The train stops for a photo opportunity at this waterfall...
- And a maiden comes to serenade you...
- And another...
- The train guards looked as though they might be more at home in Communist Russia
- Road with hairpin bends following a stream and waterfall. The train is heading up to the flat bit in the top centre
- View looking down from a bridge. You can see a tunnel mouth right in the centre of the picture
- View heading back down the valley towards Flam
- Flam church
