It is not an impossible task for a lay person to achieve. The skill is getting the correct size of glass.
Sorry Margaret but the frame does not need dismantling, the contents of the frame are held in place by pins at the back, some times covered by brown paper tape.
Trevor Adams can usually supply the glass from stock.
Katex if you don't want a new frame say so.

That may well be the case for a picture - my mirror didn't have a 'back'.
