2012 Prediction League - Just for Fun; Game 4 v Oxford Utd (FA Cup Round 2) - home
OK, so we all know that their fans are sitting under their mortar boards smirking to themselves, because they got a freak 5-0 win against us last month (the only time in the League that they’ve scored more than 3 in a game (which they’ve done twice – at Wycombe (3-1) and at home to the Wombles (3-2)), and we know – well, those of us who followed the link through to their forum know – that some of their fans think that they’ve only to turn up on Saturday and we’ll roll over and have our tummies tickled ……… Well they’re wrong . And – may I remind their fans – that they’re four places, two points and one goal worse off than we are in the League as it stands (we’re 14th with 26 points and -5 goal difference, they’re 18th with 24 points and -6) …………and it all started so well for them …………..He who laughs last, as they say, is a damn fool for waiting so long
They’ve lost strikers Tom Craddock (26) and Deane Smalley (24) for a month; Craddock – who scored four of their five against us (the best return by a Headington United (sorry, Oxford Utd) player for 20 years) - has a cracked rib, and Smalley a torn abductor muscle, which I assume is the muscle you need to use when abducting someone ……..? Also out with a hamstring problem is defender Damian Batt (26)
They don’t really travel too well – away they’ve played 10, won 2, drawn 1 and lost 7 ; in the various Cups they’ve had varied fortune; they went out of the Capon Cup 3-0 at Leeds, having beaten the Cherries on penalties after a nil-nil; in the Tinpot they beat Swindon 1-0 at home and Cheltenham 4-2 away (they play their Quarter Final at Plymouth on Tuesday, so could go out of two cups in four days! ), and in the FA Cup they overwhelmed a full strength Barnet 2-0 away
If they think they can 5-0 us at our place ……..Dream on!
Only for fun, this, as you know; deadline for entries is 3.00pm this Saturday, 1st December. The question, it seems to me, is ………Who do we fancy in Round 3?
Keep the Faith …………and thanks for playing!
