It's nonsensical to do it for hygiene reasons-similar to me saying 'If I cut my labia off, it will be easier to keep my vulva clean'.

The sensitivity thing isn't true either, and as you have nothing to compare it to,having being circumcised young, you cannot know how it affects sensitivity. If anything,it's the opposite-friction causes sensation and there is less when the foreskin isn't there, plus if the head and glands of the penis are constantly exposed to clothing and touch they become less sensitive than if they are not exposed until sexual contact.

its not about religous tolerance its commons sense and just because someones religion is backwards it should not mean harm to a child should be over looked

I agree. The fact that these people didn't know, that this procedure was available on the NHS angers me as well, as parents they should have the initiative. I won't get started on religion, though

It's debatable, evidence suggests that having a foreskin is risky, but the major studies to establish facts were done in mostly third world countries-no barrier methods used for protection. Using protection works largely to prevent the spread of HIV anyway. Then again religious nuts are against that as well, aren't they.
Having 'voiced' my opinions, it's daft-Mr Sugarmouse is circumcised-I asked him why when we first , er.... and he said 'It's the done thing in Canada'!
