I went all dewy eyed, reading that thread Baz. That certainly brought back some memories.
With regards to the Offside ruling... It is true that to be offside wasn't considered a offence, but when I was at Moor End junior schoo', up Ossy, it was known as "tart lining"; the art of loitering without intent, waiting for the footy to get launched towards the opposition goalmouth, then help the ball onwards into the nets. You had to be quick though, because tart-liners were considered fair game by the opposition pack, and it could turn into a feeding frenzy, as your shins copped for a stray kick or two.
