Re: Argyle match thread
A workmanlike performance and a draw was probably a fair result. Both teams had good chances. Beattie was a handful for the Plymouth defence, and he seemed to be doing good work in encouraging the others. I thought Marcus Carver was impressive when he came on - he is fast and certainly lets defenders know he is there. I was pleased to see Charlie Barnett back; I thought he played well. I was a bit mystified by Wilson being used on the left side of midfield. I would have preferred to see Moly there. In the first half especially, Craig Lindfield was a threat down the right wing. He was the victim of a foul that went unpenalised. Yet one of the most blatant dives I have ever seen resulted in a free kick to Plymouth in an identical position.
I have to mention one worry. It seemed that time-wasting was a deliberate tactic by Stanley this afternoon with Belford being the main culprit. I have never associated Stanley with such a tactic, and it was not pleasant to watch. It certainly led to a reaction by Plymouth fans, and unfortunately they reacted that way for genuine injuries.
