As a Hyndburn Borough Councillor I got the opportunity to go out on one of the gritters on Friday 25th January from 7.30 to 8.30 p.m. I can't remember when we last had so much snow! It was quite frightening going over Stanhill, Knuzden & Haslingden Old Road. Snow was falling faster than the gritters could clear it. I was full of admiration for the gritting teams who work through the night keeping our main routes clear. It is a dangerous and skilled job when conditions are so severe. I have sent an e-mail to Lancashire Highways showing my appreciation.
