Expensive plastic bags

Trip to supermarket yesterday. The boss picked up a bag of 4 bananas with a big, bright label on saying £1. A good deal?
Near them were boxes of loose bananas, same country of origin, same condition, same sizes, labelled £0.68/kg. I looked at the bag and thought 4 bananas can't weigh 1.5 kg? So I weighed it- 0.61 kg, cost £0.41.
So she was paying £0.41 for the bananas, £0.59 for the bag!
I put the bag back, got 4 identical loose bananas, put them in a free bag- cost £0.43.
That has got to be a rip-off. I know someone has had to put them in the bag but come on! Who's packing them, the Managing Director?
I've seen it many times- two 1 kg bags of sugar for less than a 2 kg bag, a 4 pack of soup etc. dearer than 4 loose tins, even though it has a special label on to make you think bulk buying is cheaper.
The supermarkets are treating us as fools, knowing as we rush around we won't check things out and the big bright labels and bulk buys will auto suggest we are getting bargains.
I hate being ripped off!
