Charlie Cairoli was a clown
He sure was . He was the head man at the Blackpool Tower Circus for many years post-war, getting soaking wet twice a day from buckets chucked by his side-kick Paul, who never spoke. A statue of Charlie has just been erected in Stanley Park. It is very life-like and fun to look at. However, there is much disquiet in the town because it should be on the Prom in front of the Tower, where that ridiculous 'comedy carpet' is.
