I think we should do what they do in the US. Life means life and the jail conditions harsh. If there is a higher risk to prison guards then, I'm sure, safeguards could be put in place somehow. Long termers shouldn't get cushier treatment just because they have a life sentence. Also, I don't think police killers should be made special cases - all life is precious. All murderers /lifers should get the same treatment.
