I have happy memories of the Woodlands as I often got a "Get out of School free" card at junior school (St Mary's) as my best friend Andrea had terrible hayfever and this time of year she often got sent home and I had to accompany her -we lingered in the Woodlands on our way to her house despite the hayfever!!  |
There are two sections to the woodlands, the official woodlands area that runs alongside Whalley Road. It contains the stone,and wood carvings, and the paths are tarmaced. Then there is the wooded area that runs around the outside of Wilson's Playing Field, you can walk all around the playing field keeping to the woods and end up back at the start point. So it can be a bigger walk than you would think at the start point.
