Well. There are lots of improvements in windows 8. (To the desktop) and my computer is somewhat snappier with it. I needed windows for my gaming pc and I have noticed some improvements whilst playing battlefield 3 so I bought the OEM version for £80
The "Start Menu" still sucks. But. I am used to ubuntu and pressing FN and typing what program I want to load(which i prefer to using mouse on the windows start menu) which works perfectly fine in the metro/start ui.
