Last Saturday we went to Townend at Troutbeck near Ambleside, a National Trust property. It's a typical farmhouse which was owned and added to by a rather well to do family. There's a lot of carved wood in the house, both old and fairly modern (early C20) including a built in kitchen. Unfortunately there's no lighting in the house so taking photos was a bit difficult. There's a nice garden too which was easier to snap. We then went over the Kirkstone Pass towards Ullswater to round off our trip.
- Wild flowers by the path to the house
- Barn across the road
- A bean tree
- This is a living history property - hang out your washing
- A holey hosta
- Carved panel on a clock case
- Very long table, built in situ in the house
- Rush light holder
- Bench to go with the long table
- Lobelia through a diamond lattice window
