Today in Pictures, a walk up to Jamestone Quarry. (Grane Road)

1.Jamestone Quarry, alternating layers of sandstone and shale, ideal for quarrying.
2. In the distance , Musbury Heights another quarry site.
3. Obvious signs of habitation.
4. The quarry started life in the 18th century as a local quarry, when the railway arrived in 1846 the quarry expanded at a massive rate.
5. In 1870 the quarry employed 3000 men to cope with demand.
6. You are never far away from a turbine.
7. The stone from here was exported to India, the Far East and America through the ports of Liverpool and London.
8. I'm not going any higher, its putting my lamps out.
9. Another long gone way of life.
