Forty was fine -Fifty seems to be a hurdle -all psycological of course! What's in a name? What's in a number...  
I have an inkling that it's the realisation that you have less than that time ahead of you -being realistic.That is the scary part of age...
Better not to think about it and just get on with the living 
Mum has sent me the money to treat myself a decent camera - now that's something to celebrate
