Since so many assets were available for deployment to this one "minor" incident, on a Thursday evening, last week before Christmas (a notably very busy time) & in the Capital itself, doesn't this not then suggest there may just be a surplus of certain agencies & that some judicious thinning is both feasible & inevitable?

The responce by the Fire Brgde is made by the first Fire Officer on the scene, and from experience that would have been makes pumps 6, HP & ET required, they would then have all the nescessaary Fire Fighing & rescue equipment available at the scene for any contingency, how would they know there would be no flames, better to have the gear ready, than have the delay of ordering it later, and some of those appliances could have come from a few miles away, you would soon change your mind if flames were licking your arse.
