Re: Information on your area

Aside from all the previous comments, with which I happen to agree, it is obviously a commercial site, & slanted accordingly. When looking at the local businesses listed, I remember the days when salespeople tried to get me to advertise on a leaflet produced on behalf of the local estate agent, & wonder if this is the modern day equivalent?
I wonder how much it has cost these guys?
Do I really want some website to tell me that Frank Jeffers is 100yds away, or Greengates is 300yds away? Or Homebase is a little bit further? Do we really need to tap into 'tinternet to find these people? What happened to good old 'word of mouth'?
Does no-one ask their friends, colleagues etc for the name of a good tradesman/company these days?
Having viewed, more than used, this forum over the last few months, I would welcome it if someone more computer literate than myself would start a thread extolling the virtues of our local tradesmen. And also, of course, warning us of the 'cowboys'.
Perhaps we'd be surprised that we have more 'Good 'un's ' than the cowboys highlighted in the local press!!
Sorry if I may have gone a little 'off topic' , please forgive my ranting!!
