I once gave some thought to the question: Why was there so much poetry that came out of WWl, and so little from WWll? The only one that comes to mind is Randall Jarrell's "The Death of the Ball Turret Gunner."
Paul Fussell's "The Great War and Modern Memory" provides some "answers", if answers there are. I found the chapter, "Oh What a Literary War" particularly interesting.
