Re: "Respect your elders"
My thoughts on this have been mainly covered by what other members have written, especially Margaret’s regarding courtesy, which to my way of thinking is akin to respect. Courtesy and good manners should be shown towards others, irrespective of age or gender and if they don’t respond or return this courtesy then it is their problem, no one else’s.
Certainly respect others for their achievements and for their endeavours - but this shouldn't be a right to be expected just because a person is of a certain age, respect has to be earned.
However, we should respect the rights of others (as long as they are legal and legitimate of course) – even if we don’t always agree with them, have regard for people and for their property, and to start with have some respect for ourselves – ‘cause if we don’t nobody else will.
Btw, I’m a few years older than you Margaret so I’m a 23 year old in an old shell wondering what the hell happened….and ain’t that the truth.
