Lights Out

is tomorrow Monday August 4th

100 years on: Lest we forget

Tomorrow, 4 August, events across the UK and in Belgium will take place to remember the start of the First World War 100 years ago.

The first of the national events taking place on Monday will be a Commonwealth Service and wreath laying with a march past in Glasgow, from 10.00am, reflecting in particular the contribution of the Commonwealth nations during the First World War,

Other national events include a Step Short parade in Folkstone from 10.45am plus a candlelit vigil service at Westminster Abbey from 10.00pm tomorrow evening.

Regional events are taking place in parish churches, towns and cities up and down the United Kingdom and members of the public are invited to take part in the 'Lights Out' campaign; switching off all your lights except for a single candle for a shared moment of reflection between 10.00pm and 11.00pm.
