Re: jack rose
Regards the ticket prices, my opinion is that we DO have the crappest ground and facilities in the Football League and pricing should reflect that. You also have to take into account the local economy, which is never great in Accrington. £20 IS ridiculous, as was £17 with category A,B,C deviations or pay online to save £2 etc etc.
The club changes strategy every season and has no medium to long term plan, it's all about the immediate. At the end of this season the bean counters will deem this season's price structure to have been a success due to the fact that it will have brought in a modicum more beans, however the longer term damage will be unfathomable.
There has to be a plan put into place where a permanent pricing structure is agreed and some sort of marketing ploy built onto the back of it. It's quoted in this thread that even FREE admission didn't work. Well, yes it did quite frankly as there were over 4000 in the ground. We've tried £5 tickets and they didn't work. Well, yes they did quite frankly as each game showed an increase on previous gates. But one-offs aren't any kind of yardstick. For example, if we decided to do £5 a game all season long we would have a yardstick to measure against. That could be a financial disaster or it could be a stroke of genius.
The strategy this year is to fleece the one-offs and those who have the brass to fund season tickets or flexi tickets pay an acceptable price - that's fine by me but it doesn't persuade me to come if I'm umming and aahing (managed one home game this season). Flexi tickets could easily be replaced with Multi-tickets and get 3for2. The one-off attendee still gets fleeced but those more local are likely to attend 2 games rather than 1.
The top and bottom of it for me is that for a number of years I have been unable to answer a simple question. "how much is it to get on?" Buggared if I know is my usual answer because it chops and changes too much. Decide once and for all, stick to it, market it.
