Re: Today in pictures
Today in Pictures, more than a moist moment.
1. Just on the border with Hapton, this bit is still in the borough, and part of the Hyndburn Clog (a walk I have done twice)
2. Leaving Hyndburn, and dropping down to the Hapton border.
3. This is where the stream we are about to follow dives down a Victorian culvert to go under the railway line, and then the Motorway(M65)
4. Castle Clough, it wasn't really a castle just a fortified manor house that used to sit on the high ground to the right of the picture.
5. The Wild Garlic is poised to flower.
6. The high points used to join up, until the stone was quarried out, then at some point the stream was put to use, the stone pillar was one half of a sluice gate. The base of the gate is still visible under the water.
7. These stones from time to time are dislodged off the rock face and tumble down to the low point.
8.Sometimes the water level is such that tree roots tumble along the stream bed.
9. There used to be a footpath along the waters edge but that vanished a few years ago when we were all subjected to flood conditions.
10. That concludes a walk that went on longer than expected, but I was mooching with the camera, just round the corner is back lane, and the way home.
