I've just joined this site which I found by accident while looking up bits and bobs about Accrington.

As you'll have guessed I am, originally, from West End. I was born there in 1943 (but don't tell anybody) and lived there until 1962 when I married. I went to St Marys School, then Paddock House. I've lived in various counties in England but for the past 30 years I have been here in Cheshire.

I have lots of memories of Accrington; meeting friends on "the deck" on a Saturday (do people still do that?), the old open-air market, the Wayside coffee bar (1 cup of coffee could last all evening), the Odeon with its café. I don't suppose I'd recognise the place now.
