OK, here’s some drivel to keep prediction leaguers amused before publication of the season's first table at the end of the month …….
The league has been running under new management for 5 years now. That’s 230 games we’ve covered, Stanley’s record being P230, W57, D53, L74, GF 290, GA 322, Pts 224. No prediction leaguers (not even your organisers
) have managed 230 predictions. We (me and D3N) have played 229, along with Deeayess, Norwich Stanley and Redash. 21 people have played over 200. 34 people have only played once – Maccawozzagod has played once in each of 3 seasons
. The introduction of the season ticket has of course made it easier to have an entry every week for the last two years.
Taking the 5 years together, Teach leads the table with 435 points from 223 entries
, followed by Football19 on 425 from 221 and NigeB on 421 from 225. Big gap then to Deeayess (382) and Ossy Kid (378).
Going on positions over the 5 years, giving 10 points for 1st and 1 for 10th, Nige leads
with 32 points (2nd 3 times, plus 6th once) from Teach on 30 (1 win, 2 3rds and 1 7th) and F19 on 27 (4th, 2 5ths, 1 6th and 1 8th. Only F19 has been in the final Top Ten every year. AngeB is 4th in this table with 18 points, despite only competing for 2 years (1st and 3rd). With 202 points from 91 games, this is an average of 2.21 points per game

If Stanley had matched Wynonie Harris’s expectations, they would have scored 1056
while conceding 276 in 227 games. His 4-1 prediction for Saturday is thus less exciting than his average (4.7 – 1.2 for the Stanley). The Mighty Wyn’s blind faith has him 24th in the overall table with 299 points. His only 5 point prediction was for a modest 3-0 win over Lincoln in the 7th game of the first season we did this

197 of Redash’s 229 predictions have been 3-1 to the Stanley, please, chaps, including every prediction since 15 Feb 14. And he very rarely uses his season ticket. Stanley have won 3-1 8 times in the last 5 years – I wish I could report these were all among the 32 when he went for something else, but sadly not
