Doctors charges

My daughter who is unemployed after the birth of her twin boys, was on a course to get back to work. After a few weeks she was taken ill with a thyroid problem and had to give up the course. She has now recovered and would like to rejoin the course. She has been told that she requires a doctors note, and went to the surgery to get one.The receptionist told her the doctor would require £45to supply the letter. Is this too much for signing ones name? Or is someone taking advantage of the unemployed who are desperate to get back into work?
