Basically the road priorities have changed, the link between Blackburn road and St James st has been opened up (previously is had a monument on) and the direction of flow is now from Blackburn road up St James st, not down it.
This reversal has meant that Holmes st (alongside the Bees Knees) has been reversed and at the junction of St James st and Cannon st (as pictured above) all roads lead up towards Paradise st.
Cannon st from Tesco's is a left turn, Cannons st from StJames church is a right turn.
Cars are still coming along these roads and turning down stJames st towards Blackburn road and getting in trouble with other cars travelling with the correct direction of flow.
There are road markings at each road end, barriers and temporary no left/right turn signs to prevent cars turning down StJames st but still they do, especially if they want to park.
A priorities have changed sign, no right turn signs before the exit would IMO make it clearer to drivers.
However, some just don't care anyway and do what they want, they are probably the same ones that whizz along in front of the town hall whenever the feel they want to.
