Re: Where to live?...

Vorlon, you don't say where you live - I can't believe it's Accy with a terrace at £200,000. A two bedroom flat in our block has recently been reduced in price - it was on at £460,000, but they've cut it back to £440,000. Just down the road, in a block called Russell Court, studio flats (i.e. one room with kitchen in a cupboard and a tiny bathroom) are going for about £200,000.

Stick to Ossy - the house prices are reasonable, and still looking to rise. We got ours at the right time, it has probably doubled by now, but we have spent quite a bit on it so far, central heating, repointing, etc. Still more to spend, sad but true.

There is such a wide variation in price over the area, Clayton is still cheap, as are parts of Accy, but Ossy is comparatively pricey. Depends on whether you want a new house or something with more character, whether you need a decent school nearby, how far you are prepared to travel to shop, etc. Also, of course, where you work will come into it. Draw a circle on the map around where your workplace is, and look in those areas. Be prepared to widen it if necessary.

Whalley is nice .....
