A bit more like the low rent and rates they charged the club for years. And not to mention the grants that both the MP and MEP helped secure for the club. Stanley fans can never point the finger at the local council who have bent over backwards during the leaner years to help the club survive. A little appreciation would not go amiss. That applies to both political colours of the council. I was one of the people who helped make things happen for the club. I don't just know who was in charge at the time of the shirt deal. I would bet cuts from central government to the local authorities would have had some bearing on the decision but I was not involved at that time so I can't be exactly sure.
