We got married in the Register Office at Haslingden one Monday dinner time.....it cost seventeen shillings and sixpence......so hubby got half a crown change from a pound.....he said he thought it was a good deal.
I couldn't be doing with all the fuss of a church wedding......we didn't have much of a celebration either...sausage sandwiches, battenburg cake and a bottle of Champagne that a friend gave us. My parents didn't attend and my father said he would give it 6 months. At my Silver wedding he gave us a Silver tea set and I said to him 'Dad it's been a bloody long six months' In October of this year we will have been married for 39 years.
