Re: US gun laws

As for the geographical situation....with homesteads being scattered over a large area.
You could make that observation about Australia.
The homesteads there can be hundreds of miles apart.
Heck, my sister in law's drive was 2.5 kilometres from the dirt track that lead to the next homestead...and 6km from a main road.
Does Australia have a gun problem?
The last time I looked, it did not.
Why might this be?
There are dangers in these outlying homesteads in much the same way as in the US....but the right to bear arms is not part of the Australian constitution...and while you are right that guns do not kill people...I think that the constitutional right to bear arms is the crux of the matter...that and the fact that those who want to exercise their right, are less able to accept the responsibilities that go with the rights.
I just wonder how many more young lives will be wasted, how many more empty words spoken...and still nothing will change because of the power of the NRA.
All the words, all the handwringing and tears will not bring those dead children back....nor will it protect the potential future victims.

Nothing will change until PEOPLE change their attitudes to firearms.
