Had I lived back in those olden days I probably would have been in favour of Ale(it was drunk because it was safer than water) but as I do not live in those olden days I will stick to tea....it is much less likely to make me fall down(I cannot hold my alcohol these days)

I think it was the dutch Clipper ships that brought us tea Taddy...I think Sir Walter was responsible for baccy and spuds.
It was Catherine de Braganza(Charles the II's wife) who made tea drinking fashionable omong the upper classes.....while the hoi polloi(that would be you and me) had to drinke ale because back then tea was too expensive.
