same with me when i lived in norfork. only time i went on the beach was if one of the dogs did a runner to '' welcome'' another holiday maker. even as a kid in hartlepool we ignored the sea and sand. still think that when you see something every single day of your life you do take it for granted but i doubt those who,d say they,d swap your existance for theirs would do so after their first winter in the place. bit of rose coloured glasses i,m afraid with the coast like it always being sunny in the 6 weeks holidays as kids.
