Decimal Currency? My Arse!

Below is an advert claiming to celebrate fifty years of decimal currency.

The celebration of our changing from LSD to £ and p, from the pound being divided into 240 pennies to being divided into 100 pence.

Only it wasn't was it?
We must be the only nation that could conceive a decimal currency that wasn't divided by 100 units but divided into 200 units, why? because at the same time as going 'decimal' we were also introduced to the half pence piece what? I hear you cry, a decimal currency that straight away has fractions rather than decimals who on earth could possibly approve such a nonsensical system upon it's subjects?
Well. Westminster of course, it was of course not really to bring our coins into some form of logic but to hide the inflation of the time and we are now supposed to celebrate it.

Thank goodness we didn't adopt the Euro later on or pretty soon we would be celebrating the Country going bankrupt and no doubt have a coin struck with, I.O.U. emblazoned on it's face to celebrate that (almost) continent wide cock up as well.
