MH pretty much summed up my fears too , and listening to the one-eyed Radio Solent commentary down here, at half-time it felt as though it might be a lot worse than that . Said one-eyed commentators were near suicidal with 5 minutes to go and delighted to escape with a point at the final whistle , though still feeling Pompey should have been out of sight long ago . However, it was what it was ........ a draw.

Which only 4 of you predicted, and of those only Mike A went for the full Desmond . This shot him up the table from 8= to 4th. Taking 3 points was enough for Taypot to keep Mike off the podium by a point, moving from 4th to 3rd and pushing pointless Nige B below both of them, down to 5th. The same 3 allowed Stevie R to clamber over Andy D and AccyMad in going from 7th to 6th, and the last 3-pointer went to LongLostSon and produced the biggest upward move of the day, from 17th to 11=.

Shurm and Cashman were among the many who got a point for thinking somebody would score twice, which allowed them to hold on to the top two places, 35 plays 32, with Taypot only behind Cashy on countback. Div 3 North's point was enough to get him back into the Top Ten, at Tom D's expense. Elsewhere, there was a bit of shuffling about in mid-table (11 to 20), but no changes down in the basement.

So, on we roll to Gillingham. Win that one, and it'll be 7 wins, 6 of them coming against teams in the bottom 7, and 2 draws, against the next two above them. So the only points gained from anyone not in or around the basement came from the win against Ipswich. On the other hand, 5 of the 6 we've lost to are in the top 7, the only team we've lost to who are below us being Cheltenham. The teams in the top 7 and bottom 9 we haven't played yet are Plymouth and Fleetwood, so there are a lot of mid-table battles coming up before Christmas. Best we win a good few of those, methinks .

On Stanley On!!
