Does anyone remember who we signed Russell Payne from? All the Non League club directory books I have suggest it was Ashton United. I guess it would make sense as there was a large exodus of players from Ashton Utd when John Coleman moved across but the excellent Ashton United History Database website (

Can anyone provide a full record of his playing career? I know he started at Skelmersdale United before going to Liverpool and Crewe but I can't find out who he played for between leaving Crewe and playing for us.
Any help would be gratefully received.
