Agree entirely with you. I was born in 1943 and remember vividly dancing at various places late fifties such as
- Joe Morts
- Knowlmere street
- Con Club etc.
As you say, it was only on Saturdays, apart from Christmas and New year when they fell during the week.
We would also go for the odd pint or two (under age) in the Royal Oak & New Brewery.
